MEET NESSIE. PART GLIDE BAIT. PART SOFT BAIT. A WHOLE NEW DOMINATE BREED.
Introducing the Berkley Nessie, a soft glide bait that opens the door for entry level anglers to this advanced tool/technique, while simultaneously unlocking new uses for anglers experienced with glide bait style fishing.
TRY THESE TECHNIQUES
The Nessie delivers versatile action options based on various working methods:
CHOPPING: QUICK AND TIGHT TURNS OF THE BAIT
IDEAL SIZES: 7 & 9
"Walk" the bait by using a combination of rod tip pops and slight turns of the reel handle to pick up slack. Work hard and fast. Tip: This is similar to working a walking style topwater. Work fast and hard, pause often or give one hard sweep / rod pop in order to turn the bait around on the fish often triggering bites.
SLOW WIND: SLOW MEANDERING "S" STYLE ACTION
IDEAL SIZES: 7 & 9
Steadily reel. Tip: Pause often or sweep the rod in order to turn the bait around on the fish often triggering bites.
BURN & KILL: TIGHT AND FAST "S" STYLE ACTION
IDEAL SIZES: 5, 7, & 9
Reel quickly, then stop and pause. Tip: On the pause or right after burning, sweep the rod in order to turn the bait around on the fish often triggering bites.
TWITCH: SLOW AND SOMEHWAT TIGHT TURNS OF THE BAIT
IDEAL SIZES: 5, 7, & 9
Similar to chopping "walk" the bait by using a combination of rod tip pops and slight turns of the reel handle to pick up slack. However, unlike chopping you will want to use less aggressive rod tip pops and smaller turns of the reel handle. Tip: This is similar to working a walking style topwater. Work gently and slow, pause often or give one hard sweep / rod pop in order to turn the bait around on the fish often triggering bites.
